Inspection Report: Ofsted

Faringdon Community College is a very popular 11 to 18 mixed comprehensive school. Since September 2003 the school has been a specialist Engineering College. The school was categorised a High Performing Specialist School as a result of our 'Outstanding' Ofsted grading in May 2008. We were then awarded a second specialism in Applied Learning in January 2009. As a result we have an expanded curriculum offer at KS4 and 5 which includes more vocational courses at Levels 2 and 3.

Our results across the school continue to improve every year. At GCSE in 2009 85% of students gained 5 A*-C grades and 100% of students gained 5 A*-G passes. In addition to this students in the Sixth Form achieved an average of 317 points per student with 100% of students leaving with at least 2 A Levels. The Sixth Form expects high standards from its members and has a minimum entry requirement of at least 5 A*-C grades at GCSE. All prospective external students wishing to enter the Sixth Form are invited to attend an interview and tour with the Head of Sixth Form and Head of Year 12.

Faringdon Community College is also designated a Lead School for Gifted and Talented which provides resources and links to a gifted and talented network for our more able students.

Faringdon Community College is able to offer its students extensive extra-curricular activities intended to compliment their studies; most notably the annual Ski Trip to Italy, History Trip to the WW1 Battlefields and Sixth Form visit to our partner school Kazo Hill School in Uganda.
